Autumn TV

Tess Daly Featureflash Photo Agency / Shutterstock.comAutumn is signified by many things – the nights draw in, the woolly tights scarves and gloves have to be found, the central heating gets clicked on, round tins of sweets arrive in the shops and of course television. Yes, a guilty pleasure for many of us up and down the country will be getting home from work, eating some comfort food (sausages & mash anyone?) and putting on PJ’s early and settling down to watch some good old fashioned TV.

Well by the time you read this some programmes will have already started – Strictly Come Dancing (partly presented by our cover star – Tess Daly), The X Factor, Poldark, Victoria and comedy remakes – Are You Being Served? and Goodnight Sweetheart to name a few.

But there is still more autumn viewing coming that will bring brightness into your lives as the seasons leaves turn a different shade of colour outside:

Westworld

This is a new series and the executive producer is JJ Abrams who successfully rebooted the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. The cast is weighty – including Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris and Thandie Newton. The programme has a Sci-Fi flavour as a remake of Michael Chrichton’s film in1973 about a theme park run by robots that go haywire. Sky Atlantic – Oct 16 (more…)

Bridget Jones’s Baby

Bridget Jones's Baby Universal PicturesHelen Fielding (the writer of Bridget Jones), recently said “At heart Bridget Jones is about the gap between how we all feel we’re expected to be and how we actually are…” That quote really sums up in a nutshell why the books and films have been so popular – on some level we are all able to relate to Bridget Jones and the predicaments she finds herself in.

What we know so far…

The latest instalment is likely to be no different – its ten years on, and as Bridget says “Many positive things to note…”, she has a top job as a producer on a news programme, she has a cordial relationship with her ex (Mark Darcy), she’s got great friends, a good social life going to festivals amongst other things and oh yes – she’s pregnant!

The trailers give away the fact one of her exes is back – Mark Darcy played by Colin Firth, but there is a noticeable absence of Hugh Grant who played her other love interest in the previous films as Daniel Cleaver. But don’t worry there is a new lovable rogue to take his place in the form of Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy – Patrick Dempsey who plays billionaire Jack Qwant. (more…)

Gibbous Moon & Full Moon

Sandra BullockGibbous Moon

Sandra Bullock along with Jenna Coleman and Kim Kardashian were born under a Gibbous Moon.

Their Qualities:

Those born under a Gibbous Moon would be described as caring, constructive with a calming influence on those around them. They have a built-in need to help others. Their desire is to improve the world; they need to feel reassured that their life, their work and their existence on Earth is making a difference. To this end they can be ideological; and sometimes they will get burnt, by going into projects to eagerly. But they will persevere, they will learn from their mistakes and they won’t let objects get in their way of eventual success. As they mature they will find fulfilment and enlightenment and in their middle years they will get recognition for their successes from others.

Psychic to the Stars!

Psychic Reader Sandra, PIN: 2662I am a psychic clairvoyant medium, I have been very blessed with my work and it has taken me to many different places; Germany, LA, Beirut, Ireland to name a few… where I have appeared on various TV and Radio shows.

I am also the UK’s only Rumpologist! A Rumpologist is a person who reads bottoms – mainly the shape of the bottom and the lines on the bottom. It is this work that gives me many opportunities to work in the media, doing readings for celebrities in very tight clothing – so I can get a good read…

TV Work

Over the past couple of years I have been on This Morning quite a few times most recently working with Holly Willoughby and Dermot O’Leary. I was on The Greg James show again working with Dermot O’Leary and also Greg James, whom I gave readings to on air.

Earlier this year I appeared on the Alan Carr show where I gave Karl Pilkington a reading on TV, I appeared on Loose Women six weeks ago where I read Katie Price and Adam Hill on air and also recently I appeared on American TV.

I have had various articles written in Soho Magazine Columbia. I have given guidance to many people including celebrities and the feedback has been amazing.

I never take anything for granted and I am so grateful to have so many wonderful opportunities in my working life. If I can support and guide you that would be wonderful; I am direct and precise.

A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled

'Frazzled' Ruby WaxWhilst many of us will know Ruby Wax as a comedienne, in more recent times she has been an advocate for mental health; in April 15 her services to mental health were celebrated by being awarded an OBE. This followed her obtaining a Masters in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy from the University of Oxford. The book I’m talking about today is the second that she has written in this genre, the first being: Sane New World: Taming the Mind – a manual for understanding the brain and providing an insight in to human behaviour, this book was turned in to a theatre show and now the same is happening for Frazzled, with dates still left in June 2016 in London and more being added soon: www.rubywax.net

Ruby Wax’s latest book called A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled is a self-help book, in the sense that the book contains a six week course based on her studies at Oxford University with advice for parents, children, for relationships and for teenagers but it is delivered with her acerbic wit, so much so you will effortlessly glide through the book without realising its real intent – to get you to be more mindful and to change for good! The end result is a smart, humorous and accessible book.

Ruby says about the book:

“500 years ago no-one died of stress: we invented this concept and now we let it rule us. We might have evolved to be able to miraculously balance on seven-inch heels, but as far as our emotional development is concerned we’re still swimming with the pond scum. If we don’t advance our more human qualities then we’re doomed evolution-wise to become cyborgs, with an imprint of an ‘Apple’ where our hearts used to be.”

Ruby Wax shows us a scientific solution to these modern problems: mindfulness.

“I know what you’re thinking – what if I don’t want to stare at a butterfly wing or hear the single ting of a wind chime? My definition of mindfulness isn’t about sitting erect on a hillock, legs in a knot, humming a mantra that’s probably the phone book sung backwards, it’s something that can help us all: learning to notice your thoughts and feelings so you can truly experience life.”

In a recent article for Sainsbury’s Magazine, Ruby explained that although ‘mindfulness’ has been a buzz word for some ten years or so, it is a concept taken very seriously – so much so the US Marines have adopted it. She explains that mindfulness and her book are about “A way of exercising your ability to pay attention…noticing your thoughts and feelings without kicking your own ass while you’re doing it.”

  • Think of ‘attention’ like a muscle – use it or lose it…
  • Learn to ‘focus’ inside – so you can observe your thoughts without the usual commentary!
  • People you are close to will find it incredibly flattering when you give them your full and undivided attention.
  • To achieve mindfulness you must learn compassion – be kind to yourself first and then you will pass kindness on to others.

Miracles from Heaven

Miracles from Heaven movie posterThe film ‘Miracles from Heaven’ is based on a true story – Christy Beam (played by our cover star Jennifer Garner) discovers her daughter Annabel who is only ten years old has an incurable incredibly rare digestive disease. Suddenly her childhood, amongst her two sisters that should have been happy and carefree was filled with hospitals and doctors.

The Beam family are ferocious firstly in getting a diagnosis – going from lactose intolerance, to IBS, to there is nothing wrong…and then as advocates for finding a healing solution. With no expense spared to find a cure only to be told by all medical experts there is nothing they can do.

Then one day – a rare occurrence by that time, Annabel was well enough to play outside. With her sister she climbed a hollowed tree, then a freak accident happens – the branch snaps and Annabel plummets the equivalent of three stories.

But that is when a ‘miracle’ occurs, she is unconscious, but survives the fall and she was inexplicably cured. Her rescue and cure leaves the medics who had treated her mystified, but restores the family’s faith and leaves a community inspired…

The film is an adaptation of the book written by Christy – Annabel’s mother; it is a heart-warming and uplifting description of what led to that fateful day and the experiences of Annabel following the fall and her miraculous recovery.

Jennifer Garner has been having a difficult time of late following the decision to get divorced from Ben Affleck; they announced their plan just one day after their 10th wedding anniversary. Since then the whole family has been subjected to press interest, firstly in regards to Ben’s alleged infidelities and secondly as they continue to spend a lot of time together making things as normal as possible for their children.

But perhaps the filming of this latest movie proved timely for Jennifer in terms of providing some healing of her own. She was raised alongside her sisters to go to church every Sunday and they had introduced their children to their faith and had them baptised at the family’s local church. But the film offered a re-engagement with faith, making it a routine once more. She told NBC journalist Savannah Guthrie “The thing about this film was it kind of encouraged me to re-engage in just participating – not just believing – actually participating in raising my children so that they have the same background my parents gave my sisters and me.”

At the American premier in Los Angeles Jennifer discussed religion with the reporters “It has always been quietly a part of me, I’m still getting used to the idea of talking about it.”

If you want to see the film, then the UK cinema release date is set for 10th June 2016.

Anne Hathaway – Scorpio

Anne HathawayAnne Hathaway has been promoting her latest film ‘The Intern’ alongside Robert De Niro. He is known for not suffering fools gladly, and you get the impression that having to do these press jaunts is something he feels is beneath him, so it is testament to Anne’s character that they go so well when they are both present. Scorpios are known for being very sensitive and so meeting someone with such a gruff personality may be not that easy. Equally Scorpios feel happiest when they are in control of a situation, something I’d imagine Anne had to learn to let go of, when Robert goes off script during an interview and gives one word answers only!

Anne can be seen as very shy and quiet, but you should not be taken in, this is just Scorpios way of protecting themselves and those important to them. This can be seen as being secretive, but generally it is because they have a fear of letting people in. In love Scorpios want their partners to be friends as well as lovers, but the relationship will be intense. In 2012 Anne married Adam Shulman, a fellow actor and jewellery designer. She has said that at the time she was not looking for love and that “Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”

Scorpios are tenacious and ambitious, and you can see from Anne’s career that she is not afraid to put herself out of her comfort zone in order to achieve. Prior to The Intern, she starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar as part of a team of explorers that travel through worm holes in space! In 2016 she will reprise her role as the White Queen in Alice Through The Looking Glass.

In the last 24 hours the press have been reporting some diva like behaviour (exercising that need to be in control), by sending her breakfast back 4 times at the Paramount lot in Los Angeles. I’m sure this was just a blip, as previous co-stars have had nothing but kind words for her. Emily Blunt (in the Devil Wears Prada) said “Hathaway was so nice in real life it was hard to be mean to her character.”

Alesha Dixon

Alesha DixonAlesha Dixon is a Libra Star Sign

Alesha Dixon has often cited Madonna as an idol of hers, and this is interesting as Madonna is the queen of reinventing herself, and Alesha has had to go through several transformations in her career to keep going. Librans like to keep things on an even keel, so this will not always have been easy for her.

Alesha shot to fame as part of the girl band Mis-Teeq, when they disbanded in 2005 she became a solo artist. Unfortunately her solo endeavours were not as successful, and she faded somewhat from the spotlight. But this was righted in 2007 when she won Strictly Come Dancing. As a Libra Alesha would have been keen to please, it is natural to them to be team-players and cooperative, something that no doubt pleased her dance partner, judges and audience.

Librans are preoccupied by how they look; they always want to present the best version of themselves to the outside world, so it is not unusual to find a Libran celebrity in the limelight. Having said that they are not known for diva behaviour; relationships are a very important aspect of their lives and they will want to keep a harmonious balance with work colleagues, family and loved ones.

In 2009 Alesha was back in the press, but this time caught in the furore of Arlene Phillips being let go from the judging panel on Strictly with Alesha taking her place. She joined the panel in the 7th season and left after the 9th, quitting to become a judge on Britain’s Got Talent. The press widely reported that this was a financial decision with her salary likely to have been tripled to make the move. Librans can be impulsive and emotional, but this is more likely to happen in their love-lives. It is likely that this job move was well calculated and logically thought out in the Libran way.

Librans are hugely interested in others and this has stood her in good stead as a judge on both panels. But her true love is still with music and the theatre of performing, she launched a single in June 2015 called The Way We Are, and this has paved the way for a new studio album to be released on the 23rd October 2015. This is her 4th album and the first in five years. Learning from the mistakes of her past, she is releasing her music on her own record label – Precious Stone Records.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini – Cancer Star Sign

cheryl fernandez-versiniCheryl Ann Fernandez-Versini (née Tweedy, formerly Cole), got married (hence the name change) on the 7th July 2014 following a three month relationship with Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

Cheryl’s love life up to that point had come under much scrutiny due to her fame in ‘Girls Aloud’ and her partner (Ashley Cole) job as a footballer. They started dating in 2004 and they got married in 2006, but it was all over by September 2010 when they were officially divorced.

One of the main problems in their marriage was Ashley’s philandering ways, so it was a bit of a surprise when she married known play-boy Jean-Bernard. He was known as a ladies man who partied hard on the Riviera.

So, we know that Cheryl is a Cancer sign, and Jean-Bernard was born on 29th August making him a Virgo. So just what is Cancer/Virgo compatibility like?

Well a Cancer women and a Virgo man can make a very good match, their relationship should have real staying power, growing in love and strength as the years go by. Both signs want security and trustworthiness, and their attentive and nurturing traits make this happen.

Both signs want goals in life, so they understand the need to be self-disciplined and dedicated, their respect of each other’s dreams will keep them bonded together. Cancer women are charismatic and others are easily impressed by them, but a Virgo lover will keep them grounded. A Virgo man is sensual and calm, he provides emotional and physical support when needed – he is a real man’s man.

The Water sign Cancer and the Earth sign Virgo, make a good pairing – both want to be comfortable, and want to surround themselves with nice things. But Virgo’s down to earth nature will rein in Cancer’s materialistic tendencies. Together they will ensure they have a great home, but they will also keep an eye on future prosperity.

The one difficulty for a Cancer/Virgo match is Cancer women’s possessiveness, she can become cold and distant if she feels ignored, but Virgo men sometimes need space and alone time to make things happen especially where work is concerned. Good communication is the key, so they feel connected even when they are busy or apart.

At the heart of a Cancer/Virgo relationship is a desire to make things work, to be prepared to put the time in and to achieve both personal and shared goals – so things bode well for Cheryl and Jean-Bernard as a compatible love pairing!

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga, JStone / Shutterstock.comFor a while people believed that Lady Gaga was a Pisces, this is because her birth date was widely misreported on the internet as March 20th. In fact she was born in Manhattan New York on March 28th 1986, making her an Aries. Her birth name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, as you might imagine from her given name she has 75% Italian ancestry. But of course now she is globally known as Lady Gaga.

In 2006 Gaga was signed to Def Jam Records, but the partnership only lasted a few months, when she was dropped by the label. It is at this point that she became much more experimental in terms of her act, how she dressed and where she performed.

Showing typical Aries traits she kept pushing through, she believed she would make it big, it was just a matter of how and when. In 2007 she was signed to Streamline Records (a division of Interscope Records). During this time she got a deal with Sony/ATV to write songs for other artists, including: Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears and New Kids on the Block…Another singer ‘Akon’ recognised her vocal talent and convinced Interscope to set up a joint deal making her a franchise player under label Kon Live.

Even though she secured this record deal, there were some who feared that she was too ‘underground’, dance-themed and racy for the mainstream music scene. But Gaga showed typical Aries independence and confidence and told them “My name is Lady Gaga, I’ve been on the music scene for years, and I’m telling you, this is what’s next.”

So in 2008 her first album ‘The Fame’ was released, but to a rather luke-warm reception. Gaga took the initiative and with fearless attitude promoted the album in Europe and through gay clubs in the States. But it was the single ‘Just Dance’ that got everyone’s attention and Gaga just exploded onto the stage!

Other hits came from the album: Paparazzi, LoveGame and Poker Face, in 2009 she released another album that charted the darker side of fame called The Fame Monster; this produced her most acclaimed single ‘Bad Romance’. While the press put her under increased scrutiny at this time, her fans loved her ever more outlandish outfits and activities. Her tour ‘Monster Ball’ ran for over a year and a half and grossed $227.4 million!

Due to her persona many people have not really heard about her personal life. But this spell was broken in February when she announced her engagement to Chicago Fire star ‘Taylor Kinney’. He proposed with a Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring in a heart design. It is rumoured that the wedding will take place at her Malibu home and will be a big family celebration with all relatives playing a part including her sister who is thought to be the Maid of Honour.
