Being rather partial to a cake or two I have been watching since the beginning and with the last episode of series 3 garnering a viewing audience of 7.2 million to watch John Waite take home the title of best amateur baker – apparently I am not alone…

Whilst each year we hear more about the winners endeavours (see John Whaite Bakes book opposite) it seems to be the unique blend of presenters – Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc and judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood that really make the programme. (more…)

Holiday Packing

Suitcase PackingMy husband and I have had many a self-catering/self-drive holiday and there is something fantastic about being able to pack everything bar the kitchen sink! I’m lucky to have a husband that silently packs the car, knowing full well there are many things that will come back unused, unworn etc. – but he feels that if having the items lower my stress levels and lets us leave home feeling everything is right with the world, then so be it for a stress free holiday. But I know I am lucky – an estate car, a non-grumbling other half and only ourselves to worry about! (more…)

The Fast Diet BookIt is fair to say that there are several times of year that really make us think about weight – in the New Year as part of resolutions having indulged in lots of food and drink over Christmas and in the summer when the weather is making us shake off our layers and think about bearing all in our swimming costumes!

Along with these changing seasons it is also fair to say that there is always a new diet on the block, low fat, low carb, blood type, Atkins, Dukan – you name it…But now there is a new kid on the block with the catchy name of Intermittent Fasting, hot on the trend several books have been published and well publicised with television programmes, newspaper articles and shop presence. KarenI started to realise I was gifted in my teenage years, I always felt different. I had a caring attitude to people and I sensed things were going to happen before they did. I realised as I grew older, that I could heal people and bring comfort with messages of love from the other side of life.

It was always confirmed later that I was correct – I knew that I would have three children and a difficult path in life. In 1990 I was told my mother would be going to spirit and I was told to spend time with her by my late father. My father passed in 1979 but tells me jokes as he did when alive, they don’t lose their personality only the physical body. (more…)

A Summer of Sport

Andy MurrayI have to say that I much prefer doing sports to watching sports, but the Olympics got the nation hooked and July 2013 brings plenty of sporting activity to suit every personality.

Starting with Tennis – people descend in their droves (500,000 spectators and millions of TV viewers) to South West London every summer come rain or shine for two weeks of tennis, queuing and strawberries & cream.

Wimbledon is one of four annual Grand Slam tournaments; it is played on a grass surface and there is a strict white only dress code for players, it is one of the most prestigious events and the world’s longest running in the tennis calendar. (more…)

Being British you can’t help but wonder was that summer? I certainly hope not as for anyone visiting the Glastonbury Festival or any festival in the UK for that matter this year will know that it will be much better if the sun is shining and the ground is dry! The Real Faeries at Midsummer

FaeriesYes faeries are real. They were created from the heart of God the same as the angels were. Faeries are God’s guardian angels of nature and they ensure the health and safety of animals, plants and Mother Earth. They are clairsentient beings able to sense human emotion and are affected by it. The word fairy derives from the old French faerie, which means ‘enchantment’. My spelling of faerie here is generally recognized at the present time to be the spelling used when referring to the serious study of elemental, magical beings. Other spellings, such as fairy, usually refer to a kind of imaginary fairy in a trivial or childlike sense; Tinkerbell is the stereotypical image. However the inhabitants of Faerie Land are very numerous and varied indeed. What do faeries look like? The answer varies drastically with the type of faery you are dealing with, but they are generally small, from several inches to about three feet high. There are a few faery spirits who have the ability to take temporary human form and size and there are even faeries classified as giants. (more…)

Father’s Day came about as a result of Sonora Smart listening to a Mother’s Day sermon.

Her father, William Smart was widowed, after his wife died giving birth to their sixth child. He raised all six children by himself, and as Sonora grew into an adult she realised the courage and selflessness it had taken her father. (more…)
