Quite often if we feel that we need to enhance our energy and spiritual vibration and joy, then we will turn to activities like meditation, crystals, journalling, yoga and other mindfulness practices. But, one of the simplest ways to achieve this is available to us all, doesn’t need any instructions and it is free – I’m talking of course about laughter!
When we laugh, and when we feel joy, something remarkable happens to our mind, body & soul. Our whole mood changes, we might feel physical tension release in our body, and we often feel more ‘in the moment’. Silliness, uncontrollable giggling and laughter can uplift our energy in a second and transform how we feel instantly.
Why is Laughter so Powerful?
There is science behind why laughter is so transformative, simply put, when we laugh our body releases feel-good hormones, any heavy emotions that we have been carrying lift, and physical tension we have been holding in our body noticeably softens.
Energetically speaking, laughter raises our vibration, taking us out of a state of worry, stress, anger and frustration (all of the negative feelings) and into a place of creativity, intuition, positive thinking – something overall lighter and more expansive.
Very often, if we are stuck in the mire, in the hum-drum of life and all of its problems, and finding solutions to issues, it is easy to forget how healing and powerful simple joy can bring – most of us have our best ideas when we are relaxed and happy!
Joy & Connection
If you think back to times when you have really laughed, the chances are, a shared experience was involved. You might be recanting to an adult child, something silly they couldn’t pronounce as a youngster, or something they did that made you scream with laughter – quite often something very inappropriate at the time, but oh so funny.
Companies often use silly ice breakers when people meet at a conference, although we all hate these, sharing humour does strengthen bonds and relationships, even with those we don’t know very well.
When we laugh together, conversation flows more easily, barriers tend to break down and people become lighter and more open.
Invite In More Joy & Laughter
The world has felt quite heavy for some time now, and there is no doubt that we are in serious times and we all have real problems to face and action. But, finding ways to bring more joy into your life on a daily basis and to laugh more will actually make it much easier to navigate the hard things.
- Make an effort to share funny anecdotes with your friends and family when you meet up. Guaranteed they will share some right back.
- Let yourself be silly and playful – we don’t have to lose child-like energy in adulthood if we don’t want to. Dance or sing in your kitchen as if no one is watching, so to speak.
- Watch something that never fails to bring a smile to your face.
- Spend more time with those that always make you laugh.
- Find humour in everyday situations.
- Smile more.
Never underestimate the power of a good laugh!
