The Book of Life is sometimes called the Akashic Records, Akashic taking on the Sanskrit meaning of the fundamental etheric substance of the universe. Theosophy describes the Book of Life as containing extrasensory information that exists in another dimension, more simply put – a cosmic library!
Imagine a space that contains row upon rows of books, of every type you can imagine – some beautiful scrolls, coloured pages, some charred around the edges as if rescued from fires, some embossed with gold leaf pages and others so delicate due to their age…All containing the secrets of world events, all deeds that have taken place for each and every inhabitant and everything that will take place in the future. Essentially DNA of the universe gathered together as human experience that can only be accessed by adepts.
The Book of Life is referenced in nearly all spiritual traditions and religions, although it can be referred to as the Cosmic Mind, Universal Mind, Eye of God or Word of God. Akasha comes from the Tibetan language – aka (space) and sa (hidden or secret). Archangel Metatron – a special angel, who was once human and was originally the prophet of Enoch who was a scribe, is believed to be the Gate Keeper of the Akashic Records.
Archangel Metatron is needed to ensure that the correct people access the records and for the right reasons; the function of the records is to help you grow as an individual; it can remove your fear of the unknown and can expand your possible future situations, but you must learn from your past and increase your wisdom and experience in order to truly get close to spiritual fulfilment.
Some famous people have used the Akashic Records, Edgar Cayce an acclaimed American psychic claimed to have seen the Book of Life, and consulted it via clairvoyance and out of body experiences to access the subconscious mind of an individual. Nostradamus is said to have consciously accessed the records and Rudolph Steiner claimed to have consulted the records for his descriptions of Atlantis.
You can work with meditation or prayer as a reliable and deliberate way to access your records. The energy present in the records is a very quick vibration, when opening the records you might feel a quickening occur and an infusion of light to guide your path. Potentially accessing your records will put you in a state of peace and acceptance, finding unconditional love and power to achieve your best self.
It is possible that at some point you have accessed the records accidentally. You may be able to recall a time in your life when you felt emotionally still but completely clear. Maybe you found a solution to a problem that you had been soul-searching over. It may even be that you had a massive turn around on a decision, suddenly knowing what the right thing to do was.
