Hi, my name is Joanna – when you have a reading with me you will be able to see through my eyes to make better decisions; to bring about positive solutions to your problems. The insight flows through the connection, allowing you to attain higher spiritual knowledge.

I have taught Tarot and gained a certificate in Esoteric studies, I have also taken part in research for The University of Paranormal. Your mind contains your life learning, experiences, thoughts and feelings. Together we can access the universal flow of energy ‘Life Force’. I also use my clairvoyant ‘seeing’, clairsentient ‘sensing’ and clairaudient ‘hearing’ abilities throughout my readings.

I am a firm believer in meditation; the mind space allows us to distance ourselves from negative energy so that we can be more positive and stay focused on feeling good in ourselves and about our lives. Negative energy can make us feel very vulnerable, and we are likely to attract people and situations that are negative too unless we can break the cycle.

When you are enlightened, your senses are heightened and you feel more evolved and more ready to take on life’s challenges and find solutions for positive outcomes.

Love & Light

Joanna

Ametrine is an unusual stone, it occurs in quartz when amethyst and Citrine reside in the same crystal. The stones are mainly located in the Anahi Mine in Bolivia,
but recently a small amount have also been mined in the Brazilian state of Bahia.

The small amount of places it can be found make the gemstone rare and its combination of Amethyst and Citrine make every stone unique in composition. This colour zoning also make it a powerful stone for a higher psychic awareness and spiritual enlightenment.

Healers use the stone to maximise the dynamic qualities of Amethyst along side the creative energy of Citrine. Amethyst is one of the best minerals for pain relief in any area; it can also be used as a settling in meditation. It helps the user to achieve inner peace and bring more balance to an emotional situation. It produces a calming effect especially to those suffering from addiction, trauma or anxiety disorders.

When used as a psychic awakener it can increase telepathy, intuition and angelic communication. Citrine in contrast is an activating and energising stone and embodies the fire element – it dissipates negative energy and relieves anger and negative thoughts. It helps to provide a balanced holistic system that enables self belief, self knowledge and self confidence. Citrine helps us to send out clear and positive intentions, it is also known as the Merchants Stone due to its financial abilities.

If you are not familiar with Beltane – then read on…

In the Gaelic languages of Ireland, The Isle of Man and Scotland Bealtaine designates the 1st May. The Anglicized spelling is Beltane meaning Bright Fire. Ancient Celts saw fire as a central part of the time of year, marking the mid point between spring and summer – opening the light half of the Celtic year. Cattle would have been released back into fields driven through the burning fires to purify them and guard against parasitic disease.

Celtic lore gave the spirits the opportunity to enjoy a last night of freedom before the dark half of the year turned light. Mischievous fairies (doine sidhe) could travel the earth at Beltane and wreak havoc on the human world. People would decorate their houses with fresh greenery and would nail crosses made of newly cut wood to protect themselves and their livestock from these spirits.

Hawthorn trees are also associated with Beltane fairy legends, especially if they grew in the sacred triad of oak, ash and thorn. Hanging shreds of clothes or ribbons on the Hawthorns was supposed to placate any passing fairies.

There are three types of Lunar Eclipses – a total lunar eclipse, a partial lunar eclipse and a penumbral lunar eclipse. On the 25th April 2013 it will be a partial lunar eclipse that takes place, which will be visible from Australia, Asia, Africa and Europe. The 25th May will see a penumbral lunar eclipse which will only be seen from Africa and the Americas. A further penumbral lunar eclipse will take place on 18th Oct 2013, visible from Asia, Africa, The Americas and Europe. But we will have to wait until 2014 for a full lunar eclipse – when two take place, one on the 15th April and the other on 8th Oct although neither will be seen from Europe.

Lunar eclipses occur when the Earth’s shadow blocks the sun’s light, which otherwise reflects off the moon. It can only happen at a full moon, essentially when the sun, earth and moon are perfectly aligned. However it does not happen every full moon, as the moon’s orbit around Earth is on a slightly different plane to the Earth’s orbit around the sun. During a lunar eclipse two shadows of the moon are cast – The Umbra (a full dark shadow) and The Penumbra (a partial outer shadow). The moon passes through these shadows in stages over several hours.

The moon was formed about 4.5 billion years ago and ever since it has been inching away from our planet at a rate of about 4cm a year. At the current time the alignment of the moon to the earth allows the shadow to create perfect lunar eclipses, but in time this will not happen.

A Total Lunar Eclipse: The moon will not completely disappear but an eerie darkness will be cast; refracted sunlight passing through the Earth’s atmosphere will give a dim glow.

A Partial Lunar Eclipse: During the partial phase, the sun, Earth and moon are not quite perfectly aligned, and the Earth’s shadow will appear as if it has taken a chunk out of the moon.

A Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: Unless you are a seasoned astrologer a penumbral lunar eclipse will probably pass you by with no visible effects, because the moon is in Earth’s faint outer (penumbral) shadow.

Whilst a Penumbral lunar eclipse does not provide much excitement a blood-red moon might! The moon can turn red or copper during the total portion of an eclipse. This happens as a result of some light passing through the Earth’s atmosphere and bending towards the moon whilst the moon is in total shadow. The colour will depend on the amount of clouds and dust in the atmosphere at the time.

A lunar eclipse of any sort can have a profound effect on our lives and how we feel about things. An eclipse like a lunar tide brings to the surface any hidden issues, but it can be a positive time allowing people to make intuitive and insightful decisions, although they should bear in mind that emotions are heightened during this period.

The moons position in your chart will determine how much of an impact any given eclipse will have on you, but generally speaking full moon energy focuses a person on anything lacking / absent from their life or if they are holding back in some way. Often relationship issues will come to the fore at this time in particular problems with connecting. In contrast the sun’s position expresses an ability to release yourself from things that are holding you back, an opportunity for greater understanding and better life balance comes in to reach.

We all have angels looking after us. I saw an angel in miniature, in black and white, like a little video playing. It was talking to me but I could not hear it. It looked just like they do on the Christmas cards, and androgynistic. Yeah, yeah, you may think, but yes it really did happen and I had it confirmed by a medium. I was living alone, and going through a particularly bad time in my life.

I was always aware from a young age that I was a spirit living in a human body and had an avid interest in all things spiritual. Having gone to spiritual development class I was beginning to feel spirit around me. At the class the others in the group often spoke of angels in the room, something I couldn’t quite get my head round. It was as if I challenged the angels to prove themselves to me. And they did, over and over again.

This particular evening I was lying in my bed with a severe headache and everything around me was an intense struggle. Feeling I was sinking under the pressure I asked above for advice. I looked over to the window where the curtains were drawn and there was this little angel. I will never forget what I saw. That was without a doubt the night that changed my life. Here I was getting to see into the spirit world, another world, where angels actually exist. To begin with I kept staring thinking it can’t be real it must be the pattern on the curtains I am seeing. But no the closer I looked I realised that this was in fact an angel, with wings. It started to talk to me, but I could not hear it and it had a serene look about it. I am not sure how long it was there before it disappeared and I fell asleep, having the best sleep I had in a long time. I woke in the morning to an intense calmness all around me, remembering what had happened the night before and feeling completely different about life, the world as we know it, and more importantly an overwhelming knowledge that I was going to be okay and I was being looked after from above. From thereon in I knew I would be strong enough to survive whatever life threw at me.

About one week later I went to stay with a friend in Dumfries and we went to visit a medium in the town of Castle Douglas. We both had a booking with a reader who was working from a spiritual shop in the town. About 5 minutes into the reading she stopped and said “You saw an angel didn’t you?”. I couldn’t believe it, she described the night in detail – how I had been lying in my bed, had saw the angel in miniature in black and white like a video playing and I could see it but not hear it. She told me about my headache that night and how when I was lying in bed there were three angels above me working on my headache. She said I knew what I was seeing but couldn’t quite believe it and that I felt nobody would have believed me if I told them. She was spot on, along with everything else she told me. While I was having the reading my friend bought a book on angels. At the very back of the book it described ways in which you can see angels and the miniature version video in colour or black and white was there. Again, another confirmation that what I saw was real, I didn’t know that was a way you could see them, yet here I was having it confirmed again.

Since then I see them regularly, but I haven’t seen them in full form like that again. I see the elemental form of them, I have seen them fluttering around the pages of spiritual books I am reading at the time and they have left me lots of feathers. I asked them to prove themselves and they did. You don’t need to see them to know they are there. They are always with you, will never leave you and are waiting to serve you. They want to guide you, but you need to ask. They have been created by God to assist us; they work closely with us, open your heart to them and feel their beautiful loving energy all around. I hope my words allow you to open up to the angels and let them be part of your everyday life.

The traditional birthstone for April is Diamond. The word diamond is taken from the Greek word “adamas” meaning hardest metal. The diamond is a member of the carbon family and is a precious stone remarkable for its extreme hardness. Diamonds are primarily mined for in USA, Brazil, Russia, Australia and Ghana and are usually colourless or tinted yellow.

The properties of the April birthstone are clarity, balance and abundance. It has long been thought that the diamond has healing properties particularly in relation to brain diseases, drawing out toxins and as a remedy to poison. The diamond is also associated with increasing inner strength and enhancing relationships.

The diamond has a long folklore history, in India the gem enjoyed fame as a talisman and the Romans believed the stone would protect against poison and plague. It is also said that the love darts of the Roman God Cupid were made of diamond.

Today though the diamond is seen more as a symbol of everlasting love, and is often given for an engagement, birth or anniversary.

April Birth Flower

April’s birth flower is the sweet pea a climbing plant with pastel coloured flowers. Sweet pea means Good Bye or Blissful Pleasure and it also has a Victorian hidden message – Thank you for a lovely time. It is thought Victorians started attributing special meanings to things like flowers in order to convey a message to a loved one that their normal etiquette would have prevented.

Traditionally sweet pea’s are given to celebrate the birth of a new baby, can be included in wedding flowers or bouquet as well as having special significance during Easter being used to celebrate Good Friday, Palm Sunday and Passover.

The sweet pea can be dated back as far as Roman times when it is thought they offered flowers such as sweet peas and gem stones such as diamonds to celebrate birthdays and offer congratulations to family and friends.

Jennifer Garner’s husband Ben Affleck seems to have been getting all of the attention of late, having been the first director ever to win both the Golden Globe and the Directors Guild awards for Best Director although sadly he failed to earn an Oscar nomination for the same work, for Argo.

But as well as raising their three children, daughters Violet Anne (born December 1, 2005), Seraphina Rose Elizabeth (born January 6, 2009) and son Samuel Garner (born February 27), Jennifer has been busy making a new movie – The Odd Life of Timothy Green. It was released in America last August, but it is making its debut screening in the UK from 5th April 2013.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green is told from the perspective of Cindy (Jennifer Garner) and Jim Green (Joel Edgerton), as they explain their experience with Timothy (CJ Adams) in an effort to persuade an adoption agency to allow the couple to adopt a child.

Cindy, who works in the town’s local museum, and Jim, who is employed at the town’s historic pencil factory, resides in the drought-stricken town of Stanleyville, North Carolina. The Greens are informed by doctors that they are unable to conceive. Distraught by the news, Jim convinces Cindy to dream up their ideal child and write the child’s characteristics and life events on slips of notepad paper.

The couple place the notes inside a box and bury it in the backyard garden. After a thunderstorm, which seemingly affects only their property, a ten-year-old arrives at their home claiming the Greens as his parents. After finding the box they buried smashed to pieces around a large hole in the ground where they originally buried it, and finding the boy inside their house, covered in mud, they realize that the boy, named Timothy, is actually a culmination of all their wishes of what their child would be.

Embarking on parenthood, Cindy and Jim soon discover their son is an extraordinary boy with strange powers who will transform the lives of everyone he comes into contact with. It is a touching drama about families and wishes coming true and is both moving and magical.

The Chicago Tribune said “…The emotional anguish of infertility; the challenges of adoption; raising and being a nonconformist or “different” child; small-town recessionary woes; improving your relationship with your father while there’s still time; saving the local pencil factory. That’s a big range.

Hedges’ film follows how the Greens adapt to this addition to their lives, and how Timothy, the boy from the ground, fulfils or subverts their laundry list of ideals. The writer-director’s previous film, also for Disney, was “Dan in Real Life,” and throughout Hedges’ career the Iowa native has adapted his brand of whimsy across novels, plays and screenplays. Extraordinary children and ordinary, sometimes idiotic parents inhabit a theme he explores frequently, and “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” continues that exploration.

It’s an elegant, honeyed production, photographed (in Georgia) by cinematographer John Toll and it’s full of interesting actors. Tense and chatty, Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton bring fervent sincerity and a welcome touch of comic eccentricity to the Greens, helicopter parents just waiting for take-off. CJ Adams as Timothy is charming and effective, in a Haley Joel Osment-but-less-fraught way. His character is what it is — a symbol of parental projection and fond, supernaturally fashioned hopes for a better, more verdant and just society…”

In complete contrast to this Disney movie, Jenifer Garner’s next film is The Dallas Buyers Club; she is playing alongside Matthew McConaughey who has gained much attention for the film due to the extreme amount of weight he needed to lose to play the part.

The film is set to be released in 2013 – In 1986 in Dallas, a man diagnosed with HIV (McConaughey), began smuggling alternative medicine with Rayon, a HIV positive transsexual woman. Loosely based on the true-life tale of Ron Woodroof, a drug taking, women loving, homophobic man who, in 1986 was diagnosed with full blown HIV/AIDS and given thirty days to live.

He started taking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved AZT, the only legal drug available in the U.S, which brought him to the brink of death. To survive, he smuggled non-toxic, anti-viral medications from all over the world, but yet still illegal in the U.S. Other AIDS patients sought out his medications forgoing hospitals, doctors and AZT. With the help of his Doctor, Eve Saks (Garner) and a fellow patient, Rayon, Ron unintentionally created the Dallas Buyers Club, the first of dozens which would form around the country, providing its paying members with these alternative treatments.

The clubs, growing in numbers and clientele, were brought to the attention of the FDA and pharmaceutical companies which waged an all-out war on Ron. The Dallas Buyers Club film charts Ron Wood roof’s personal fight to survive which lasted 2191 days when he died on September 12, 1992, six years after he was diagnosed with the HIV virus.

In Christian countries Easter is a celebration related to Christ’s sacrifice, but in other countries and faiths traditions are about rejoicing the return of spring.

Easter is not a fixed date; it faThe name Easter is given by Pagan traditions and comes from the word Eostre. Estor-monath (named in honour of the Saxon goddess of dawn) was the Anglo-Saxan word for March – the month of openings.

Easter focuses on new beginnings, the oval shape of an egg represents the eternal cycle of seasons. Pagans celebrate ‘Ostara’ where the egg yolk represents the sun-god and the egg white and shell symbolise the maiden goddess.

Hunting for Easter eggs was borne out of a need to forage for wild birds eggs at this time of year, as in ancient times stocks would have run low from the previous year and eggs where a vital nutritional element of their diets.

Ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians also celebrated spring with eggs, generally died red to symbolise Christ’s blood. Russian Tsars were also known to give their wives Faberge eggs which were made of enamel and were often highly embellished. This tradition spread as a sign of wealth amongst royalty and aristocrats in early modern Europe.

Within medieval Europe the March Hare was accepted as a fertility symbol. Hares are normally nocturnal but in spring their need to mate brings them out in the open during the day. The Easter Bunny originated in Germany and spread when German settlers took their traditions to America. Children would leave out grass nests and Easter bonnets in the hope that if they had been good they would be filled with treats by the Easter Bunny.

It is a balance point at which both day and night last for exactly 12 hours each all over the planet. In fact the Latin word Equinox actually means ‘equal night’.

Spring equinox marks the beginning of daylight increasing until the amount of daylight becomes longer in relation to the hours of night, culminating in Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.

Sometimes the phrase Vernal Equinox is used instead, taken from the Latin word vernare meaning to bloom. Many spring plants have a version of this in their name for example the sweet pea or Lathyrus vernus. Other flowers are also celebrated at this time of year, the daffodil for its bright yellow (sun like) flower head. The daisy or ‘day’s eye’ – closed tightly at night and open during the day, this flower has long been celebrated with Celtic tradition, the yellow centre associated with the sun and also the yolk of eggs first laid at this time of year.

The astrological year also begins in March, with Aries the first sign of the Zodiac. Ruled by the planet Mars and associated with both the Greek and Roman Gods of war – Ares & Mars. The Roman God Mars was worshipped as a healing God who represented fertility and new growth.

Saint Patrick’s day is on the 17th March 2013 and whilst it’s traditionally an Irish celebration, people to celebrate wherever there is a big Irish community – particular in America, where they will mark the day with symbols of luck, shamrock and anything green & gold. The true meaning is a time-honoured day for spiritual renewal and the offering of prayers for missionaries worldwide.

The pending holiday got me thinking about luck in general, we all know someone that we consider to be particularly lucky – they always win in a raffle, find a parking space as the rest of drive around and around, get a plum job that thousands of people had applied for and more…

The Oxford dictionary definition describes luck as “success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions”. However recent research in this area suggests that there is no such thing as luck, only chance. So good or bad luck only arises as a result of the way a person responded to a random event.

Many people are superstitious and believe that the observance of their superstitions will bring them good fortune. Some people carry objects – like rabbits feet or a preserved four leaf clover. Others will act out something, for example touching wood after saying something they want to remain true.

If we believe the psychologists then the difference between lucky people and not isn’t their superstitions or divine intervention but more the way they behave and in general their personality traits. Lucky people are normally positive, bold, open-minded and perhaps more importantly are intuitive – often trusting their gut instincts to make decisions.
